The heart of every Airfree Platinum 2000 sterilizer is its patented Thermodynamic Sterilizing System (TSS), a ceramic core which incinerates contaminants at a temperature of roughly 400ºF (250ºC). The Airfree relies on convection to move air through the purifier. Accordingly, since it does not require a fan to move the air, it is completely silent. As the air in the ceramic core is heated and begins to rise, the natural convection draws air from the room into the bottom of the sterilization chambers. Once in the chambers, the air is heated to temperatures that are lethal to bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms, including many responsible for common allergies. Once the purified air passes out of the ceramic core, it is cooled and delivered to the room with very little or no effect on ambient room temperature. Best of all, there are no filters to replace!

The Airfree boasts one of the most extensive databases of independent testing and research that confirms the effectiveness of the product against various contaminants. Interestingly, during this testing, the Airfree was also proven to be very effective at removing harmful ozone.

Minuses:
since the Airfree relies solely on passive convection to move air through the ceramic incineration chambers, it does not process air nearly as quickly as a traditional HEPA filter. It takes longer to achieve the desired contaminant reduction, although once achieved, it is generally easy to maintain. It may take up to 10 days to achieve 70-90% contaminant reduction. It is not recommended that the Airfree be moved from room to room or effectiveness will be reduced. For the same reason, the effective coverage area is also smaller than it is for most HEPA filters, however, it is still large enough to provide excellent coverage for most rooms.
